What “License active” means
The State of Florida’s public records, on the date shown, list the license as current and active, in a name that matches the page.
In Florida, jobs like electrical, plumbing, AC, roofing and structural work need a state license. When a pro adds a Florida license number, we compare it with the state’s public license records.
A page shows License active only when:
- the license is in the state’s records as current and active;
- it hasn’t expired;
- the name on the page matches the license holder or their company.
Below the badge you’ll see the license number, its type, the name on it and the date of the state’s records we used.
What it doesn’t mean
- It doesn’t confirm who you’re talking to, and it isn’t a recommendation.
- It doesn’t cover insurance or the quality of the work.
Only a number, or “License on file”? The pro typed a number our check couldn’t confirm. Maybe it’s new (new licenses can take about a week to show up), the name doesn’t match, it isn’t active, or it’s a kind we don’t check yet (today we check Florida’s construction, electrical and mold licenses). Check it yourself on myfloridalicense.com, the state’s site. It takes a minute.
A registered license is valid only in the cities or counties where it was registered.
